Australian Supportive Housing Needs Modeling Briefing

The WAAEH, AAEH and Micah Projects have been undertaking an innovative collaboration with the US based Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) to develop an Australian Supportive Housing Framework and Needs Assessment model.

CSH has over 15 years’ experience providing data modelling to quantify supportive housing needs and costs for over 30 communities. Through this project, CSH is facilitating conversations on implementing supportive housing in Australia, compiling best practices, and making recommendations for quality metrics, operating guidelines and costs for developing supportive housing .

The collaboration focuses on:

1. Modelling intervention needs using local homelessness data to target vulnerable groups.

2. Conducting modelling to determine investments to scale up supportive housing and services to end homelessness.

3. Forecast projections will quantify the required investments.

4. The development of a shared methodology framework including defining what Supportive Housing is.

On Friday July 19th the WAAEH and Micah Projects hosted a National briefing session with the CSH to allow participants to  learn more about this project and how this approach could be applied in their community to help create the supportive housing options needed to end homelessness.
